Population: 1,036.8 thousand habitants (2006)
Capital: Vinh Long Town

Vinh Long Geography

Situated between the Tien and the Hau rivers, Vinh Long Province is bounded by Tien Giang Province ( Tien Giang Travel )on the north, Dong Thap Province on the north-west, Tra Vinh Province on the south-east, Hau Giang and Soc Trang provinces on the south, and Can Tho City on the south-west.
The terrain is quite flat. The complex network of rivers and canals make convenient transportation. The soil is rich in alluvium, favorable for rice and various fruit cultivation.
The dry season lasts from December to April, the rainy season last from May to November. The annual average temperature is 27ÂșC. Average rainfall is from 1,300mm to 1,500mm

Vinh Long Tourism

Silt from Tien and Hau rivers has raised the level of the field. The majority of inhabitants live on farming, fruit planting and cattle rising.
Coming to there, visitors have chance to walk among the trees, relax in hammocks, try all kinds of delicious tropical fruits in the gardens of An Binh and Binh Hoa Phuoc islands. Several popular places are Mr. Sau Giao's Flower Garden, Mr. Muoi Day's Stilt-House, and Mr. Hai Hoang's Old House.
Vinh Long has many pagodas, communal houses such as Van Thanh Temple, Long Thanh Communal House, Tinh Xa Ngoc Vien, Phuoc Hau, Tien Chau, Saghamangala pagodas...

Vinh Long Transportation

Vinh Long is 70km from Mytho, 34km from Can Tho and 136km from Ho Chi Minh City ( Ho chi minh city tour ). The inter-province bus station is 5km from the centre of Vinh Long. There are buses between Vinh Long and Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Mytho, Long Xuyen, Sa Dec, Rach Gia, and other Mekong Delta destinations. National Highway No.1A and No.53 also runs through the province

Vinh Long tourism attraction - An Binh Binh Hoa Phuoc River IsLand

Location: The island of An Binh - Binh Hoa Phuoc emerges from the middle of the Tien River, just opposite to the Vinh Long Town. The island has four communes, including An Binh, Binh Hoa Phuoc, Hoa Ninh, and Dong Phu in Long Ho District.
Characteristic: The island covers an area of about 6,000ha. Its soil is fertile and rice, and there is fresh water and fruit trees. Several fruit orchard are opened to the public. Visitors can walk among the trees, relax in hammocks, try all kinds of delicious tropical fruits, and sometimes ones have a meal or stay overnight.

Vinh Long tourism attraction - Tien Chau pagoda

Location: Tien Chau Pagoda is situated in An Binh River Island of An Binh Commune, Long Ho District, Vinh Long Province.
Characteristic: At first it was called Di Da Tu. At the end of the 19th century, Di Da Temple was severely damaged and restored in the year of pig (1889).
This name Tien Chau Tu (Tien Chau Temple) was officially accepted then. The present Tien Chau Temple is of the same size as that of 1899. Di Da Tu is an old temple and Bai Tien (the Fairy Beach) is a scenery spot so this place of interest has attracted lots of tourists. This Tien Chau Temple was officially recognized by the Ministry of Culture and Information as a national art and architecture heritage on December 12, 1994.
