Thien Tru pagoda

Although some local vendors tried to sell me souvenirs and/or drinks, I did not felt harassed during my Perfume Pagoda visit.
It is pretty useful to learn a basic Vietnamese vocabulary. When sellers heard some of the sentences a Vietnamese had taught me, they did not insist. They thought I was not a tourist. Some of them even asked me for how long I had been living in Vietnam. They know there is difference between a tourists and an ex pat. Tourists have a few days to see as many things as they can, and a lot of money to spend. Ex pats have plenty of time, and are no big spenders.
Something you can easily learn to say is "Khong, Cam on" (pronounced "Home, Come on", which means "No thank you").
