Kenh Ga Hot Spring

From Ninh Binh city, head North 10km, then drive left at Gian’s three ways intersection for Me township and turn left from the town and proceed to a typical tourist attraction of Ninh Binh, about 2km away, arriving at Dong Chua pier where visitors are hosted and take motor boat going along Hoang Long river to Kenh Ga resort.

Kenh Ga is not noly an eco-cultural tourist site with remarkable scenery but also an ideal resort for tourist. It has unique hot salty water with a stable temperature of 530C, KCl, NaCl, Calcium and Bicarbonate that help medical treatments.

Vietnamese scientists have confirmed the good quality of this mineral water spring that is similar to the quality of convalescent areas of Germany and Russia. Today, the main branches of the spring have been built to channel water into some pools for swimming and soaking. If tourists do not want to have a bath, they can get water from the spring to drink; The water is excellent for skin ailments such as scabies and vitiligo and curing a variety of stomach ailments and obesity.

After soaking in hot water swimming pools, having a sauna or traditional massage, tourists can go by boat to visit Kenh Ga floating village, Catholic Church and then explore typical river life of local people. The villagers seem to spend most of their lives floating on water. Visitors will find nowhere as stunning as a mountain at Kenh Ga.

Another attractive beauty spot of this site is Van Trinh cave which can be accessed in 30 minutes by boat.

From Gian T-Junction (10 km from Ninh Binh city), drive West 5km, then turn right for 2km further, tourists will reach Van Long, the largest wetland reserve in the North of Vietnam with an area of 2,643 ha located in Gia Vien District, Ninh Binh Province.

Despite its small size Van Long is home to a rich fauna and flora. 457 species of plants have been identified of which eight are listed in the Red Data Book of Vietnam; Chukrasia, textured wood, fagaceae ... 39 species of mammals have been found in the area of which 12 are lsited in the Red Data Book of Vietnam. A small population of the very rare Delacour´s langur Trachypithecus delacouri lives in the protected area. This species is occurs only in a very small area in Northern Vietnam and nowhere else in the world and today there are only about 300 animals left of which about 40 live in Van Long.


Van Long Protected Area has been specifically established to protect this endangered primate species. Other animals listed for Van Long Protected Area are the serow, lorises and macaques. Reptiles listed for the area comprise King cobra Ophiophagus hannah, python, chameleon and in particular a rare species of belostomatid. Another treasure of Van Long are a large variety of waterbirds. There are not only multiple residents but during the migrating season the wetland is a popular stopover for waterbirds on their way to and from China.

Van Long has a system of pretty caverns named the Fish, Goby, Turtle and Lemon cavern. Each cave has a distinct shapes and the Fish Cave beneath Hoang Quyen Mountain is allegedly the most beautiful one. This cave has plenty of catfish, anabas, and cuttlefish and got his name because a a 45 kg cuttlefish is said to be once caught here. It is 250 m long, 8 m high and 10 m wide and its ceiling is covered with stalactites in various shapes, and it is up to the visitor´s imagination to name them tiger, buddha, crocodile..

Van Long is one of the last real natural treasures in the province, little spoiled by the the influences of tourism. If you visit Van Long Protected Area we would kindly ask you to treat the place with respect and responsibilty. Do not leave any rubbish, do not destroy the caves, stalactites or any plants and do not disturb the animals in particular not the nesting waterbirds

Detailed tour itinerary

Day 1: Hanoi – Cuc Phuong (L,D)

Pick you up at 8.00am at hotel in Hanoi, then depart for NinhBinh city towards to the South of Hanoi, it takes about 2 hours to get there(110 km). We will firstly visit Hoa Lu ancient citadelthen transfer to Cuc Phuong for visit the Endangered Primate Rescue Centre is a non-profit organization dedicated to the rehabilitation, breeding, research, and conservation of endangered primates, and to the protection of their habitats and then lunch.

After lunch keep going into the park central, stop to discover ancient human cave, arrival central park late afternoon, free to walk around the center, sleep in with the lovely sound and smell of nature. Dinner and overnight at bungalow.

Day 2: Cuc Phuong – Van Long – Kenh Ga - Hanoi(B,L)

At 7.30, be ready for the breakfast in the forest. Leaving Cuc Phuong National Park for Van Long. Take the small boat to visit this “Natural Preserve area”. Enjoy the wonderful view similar Ha Long Bay but more serene and ecological. Visit and take a bath in the “Hot Spring” and you could walk through a green rice field to visit the Van Trinh Cave.
At 3.00P.M, you leaving Van Long for Hanoi. Arrive Hanoi at 6.00p.m.
