CPV)– The low-cost carrier, Thai AirAsia reported it would operate a direct route linking Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) and Phuket with a daily flight starting December 3rd.

The operation of the direct route aims to meet the travel demands of businessmen and tourists between Vietnam and Thailand.

As scheduled, Thai AirAsia daily flights will depart at 9.40 pm and fly to Tan Son Nhat Airport at 9.10 pm. One-way ticket from HCMC to Phuket costs USD25 (equivalence to VND450,000.)

Director of Thai AirAsia, Tassapon Bijleveld, said that the number of Thai tourists to Vietnam accounts for 40% of its flights from Bangkok and more and more Vietnamese tourists have favored tours combining shopping and traveling in Thailand.

Thai AirAsia has so far opened three flights from HCMC to Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and two flights from Hanoi to Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. Vietnam’s national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines said that it would increase daily flights from HCMC to Bangkok to two from December 1st.
