Vietnam’s Central Highland Province of Gia Lai is meeting difficulties in preparing the International Gong Festival 2009 from November 12th to 15th because of lack of accomodations and air fares for tourists.
Currently, seats on all flights from Pleiku to Hanoi are full. Gia Lai has proposed to increase flights during the festival but the province has not been responded yet.
Gia Lai has mobilized more than 84 residences, including hostels and military billets with 1,700 rooms to greet nearly 3,000 tourists.
The organizing boards have also mobilized some hotels in Kon Tum province and prepared 30 canvases for urgent demands.
Deputy Chairman of the Gia Lai People’s Committee, Pham The Dung said strict punishments will be applied to residences which suddenly increase prices during the festival.
