A meeting between Vietnam and Denmark about promoting direct flights to meet the demand of travel and trade to Vietnam in the near future has been held in Hanoi.
A forecast by Denmark’s aviation research agencies showed there will be nearly 80,000 passengers traveling between North Europe and Vietnam and the figure is expected to increase sharply in the coming years.
Mr. Ulv Elbirk from the Copenhagen International Airport said that nearly 45,000 Vietnamese are living and working in Scandinavi, including Sweden, Finland, Norway, and Denmark. Of these, 14,000 Vietnamese are in Denmark.
In 2008; 22,000 Denmark tourists visited Vietnam. In the first six months of 2009, nearly 10,000 North European tourists came to Vietnam by indirect flights through other countries. So, the director’s board of the Copenhagen International Airport plans to operate direct flights between Copenhagen and Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi in the near future.
Currently, Thai Airway is Asia’s only airline linking flights between Vietnam and Denmark. However, a representative from the market research agency of Copenhagen International Airport said that North European people travel the most in the world and almost all of them tend to choose Vietnam as a destination
