Delta Air Lines ceases flights to HCM City
( January 07, 2010)

The US-based Delta Air Lines has announced to stop the direct flights of HCM City – Tokyo in its summer schedule, starting from March 27, 2010. At present, this air carrier has cut down the flights on this route from January 1, 2010.

Pham Van Hien, chair cum general director of Bien Dong Tourism Co, Delta's agent in Vietnam announced that the group's decision to cease the direct flights of HCM City-Tokyo was included in the group's adjustment schedule.

Delta Air Lines ceases flights to HCM City

At present, Delta Group's Northwest Airlines only maintains 4 flights of HCM City-Tokyo per week on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, reducing 3 flights in comparison with the former flight schedule.
Northwest started its first commercial flights to HCM City on June 1, 2009, using airplanes of Boeing 757 with 160 seats.
One of the disadvantages of Delta Air Lines was that the group could not receive customers at Tokyo-based international airport of Narita, the technical destination of all the flights from HCM City to the US as mentioned in the agreement signed with Vietnam Airlines.
Delta is the second US Airlines to conduct flights to HCM City, after United Airlines.
In 2009, Thailand's Garuda Indonesia, Bangkok Airways and PB Air were foreign airlines that had to cease their direct flights to Vietnam in order to concentrate on other air routes that brought in more revenue and profit for them.
